Active in Recovery (AIR) Program

Our foundational recovery program, Active in Recovery (AIR), is a client-centered, strengths-based treatment approach for addiction recovery and other mental health challenges. This addiction recovery program utilizes the neuroscience of physical movement with intense physical exercise to induce neuroregeneration and neuroplasticity within the participants’ brains to reduce dependence on substance abuse.

The work of our AIR recovery program all occurs within our team-based community treatment setting. It’s further important to realize that AIR is part of both inpatient and outpatient programs. Still, the effect of this recovery program process on the brain will support an improved capacity to handle stress, a reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression, improved cognition, social engagement, self-image, and self-esteem.

What Is the Active in Recovery Program?

As the foundational program in our treatment model, we have witnessed improved retention rates, which significantly impact substance abuse disorder recovery success. Of course, our addiction recovery program process also improves group attendance and community engagement.

It has become clear to us that one of the primary impacts of AIR is to make the community culture increasingly more supportive over time, driving interdependency and connectedness among participants. Further, the ability to create a community-based approach to sobriety lessens the risk of relapse while bolstering the chances of long-term success.

The AIR program provides clients with a unique life-changing experience that highlights — as well as showcases — their resiliency and inherent personal power for recovery from substance use disorder and other mental health challenges.

AIR blends these proven mental health therapies and intense physical movement in a fun and challenging environment:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – A form of psychological therapy in which participants work together with our counselors in a highly structured environment to learn new approaches to managing stress, whether physical or emotional.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – DBT takes psychotherapy a step further by focusing on your experiences, creating pathways to overcoming negative thinking patterns, and finding balance to ensure a change in personal actions and choices.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – ACT is yet another core part of our recovery program that helps you understand how emotional experiences play into your behaviors and how to stop struggling with such emotions, explains Psychology Today
  • Positive Psychology – Positive Psychology uses physical and mental exercises to build self-compassion and identify what makes life rewarding and worth living.
